Position Summary:
NJSACC: New Jersey’s Afterschool and Out-of-School Time (OST) Professional Network works to build lasting public support for quality afterschool and out-of-school time programs across New Jersey. NJSACC’s mission fosters the growth, quality, and sustainability of out-of-school time providers, professionals, and organizations to expand access and opportunity for New Jersey’s youth and families.
NJSACC’s Quality Coaching Team is looking for a seasoned, experienced OST professional to join its team full time. The Technical Assistance Specialist (TAS) will play a key role in the development and delivery of technical assistance, professional development, provider networking, and evaluation support of school-age out-of-school time (OST) programs.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Participate in providing a strong network for school-age program professionals in NJ.
- Provide technical assistance including assessment and quality enhancement planning for the development, expansion and improvement of school-age programs throughout NJ, utilizing proven resources.
- Provide support to the ongoing development of virtual, in person, and on demand professional development including foundational workshops, NJQSA, general OST topics, and both informational and other webinars.
- Provide in person and virtual site visits and/or professional development as appropriate including participating in and providing training at conferences, workshops and through information services (Annual Conference, mini-conferences, Afterschool Conversations, introductions and visits conducted with programs, CCR&Rs, Technical Assistance Centers, etc.) as assigned.
- Participate in NJSACC’s New Jersey Quality Standards for Afterschool (NJQSA) initiatives which may include development of appropriate content, professional development, technical assistance, and support of integration into the NJ Child Care Information Systems (NJCCIS).
- Provide in person and virtual site visits as appropriate.
- Participate in providing a comprehensive inclusion network for all school-age licensed, subsidized childcare and family childcare providers.
- Provide leadership and support to special projects as needed.
- Complete all documentation and reports in a professional and timely manner.
- Respond to emails, voicemails and all other communication daily on weekdays as necessary.
- Other duties as necessary and/or assigned.
Necessary Qualifications/Requirements:
- Fluent and professional in the English language with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university and/or equivalent, relevant experience.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience working with youth in OST or similar programs.
- At least 3 years of staff supervisory and training experience.
- Knowledge of school-age afterschool and OST program best practices, assessment tools, and resources.
- Ability to create and deliver in person &/or virtual training to adult learners including accompanying slide shows and handouts.
- Competent, proficient and comfortable in the use of technology including high competency level with at least google suite, power point, zoom, email, and all cell phone functions including voice and text contact.
- Ability to complete all documentation and reports in a professional manner.
- Ability to work a 5 day (35 hour) workweek typically scheduled Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-6pm including availability for virtual work one-two weeknights/month until 9pm and occasional weekends.
- Ability, facility, and basic tools to work virtually and professionally 50-100% of hours from home office.
- Availability for occasional overnight assignments and travel, conferences, and/or professional development.
- Availability for site visits during typical after school hours at least 20 days per school year.
- Able to efficiently manage multiple tasks with accuracy and respond to changing priorities as necessary.
- Able to attend in person meetings and/or other full day events in the Westfield office at least 2 times/month.
- Ability/willingness to travel throughout the state as necessary to provide services.
- Holds a current New Jersey Driver’s License, automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently and manage time and projects effectively and efficiently.
- May need to provide a writing or presentation sample during the interview.
- Able to agree to and follow all of the applicable staff guidelines, policies, and procedures as detailed in the NJSACC Employee Handbook.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in providing technical assistance to OST (or related) programs, including experience in providing verbal and written feedback.
- Bilingual or multilingual.
- Additional leadership experience in topics relevant to OST (examples – summer camp, summer learning, mental health, social emotional learning (SEL), behavior and inclusion, disability education, health/wellness, nutrition, early childhood, young adults and teenagers, STEAM, working with adult learners, etc.)
- Instructional design experience including creating high quality webinars.

- Flexible Hours:
- Full-Time
- 5 day (35 hour) workweek typically scheduled Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-6pm including virtual work one-two weeknights/month until 9pm and occasional weekends.
- Hybrid Work Schedule:
- 50-100% of hours from home office (with option to work from Westfield office).
- This position also includes in person meetings, training, site visits, & events.
- Work must be performed in New Jersey.
- Salary Range:
- $58,000.00 – $60,000.00
