The Afterschool Alliance’s fifth edition of America After 3PM provides new insights about children and families during the hours of 3 to 6 p.m.
📣 Afterschool in New Jersey Shines Bright!
The Afterschool Alliance has released the fifth edition of the America After 3PM report, the nation’s most comprehensive look at how children and families spend the critical hours between 3–6 p.m., when schools let out and many parents are still working.
🌟 New Jersey was recognized as one of the Top 10 states in the country for Parent Recognition of Afterschool Programs — a clear sign that NJ families understand and value the vital role afterschool plays in supporting youth, working parents, and communities.
But while families see the value, many still face barriers around affordability, accessibility, and availability. We must keep working to ensure every child has access to high-quality afterschool opportunities, no matter their zip code.
💼 Policymakers must also recognize that afterschool isn’t just “nice to have” — it’s essential to New Jersey’s economy. Afterschool is a critical part of the child care continuum, helping parents work, supporting employers, and strengthening communities. Investing in afterschool means investing in the state’s workforce and future.
📢 Now is the time to urge community leaders and policymakers to keep funding and expanding afterschool programs across New Jersey. Together, we can make sure every young person has a safe, engaging, and inspiring place to go after school.
