NJSACC: NJ’s Afterschool and OST Professional Network Seeks Director of Expanded Learning Opportunities (Full-Time)

NJSACC: NJ’s Afterschool and Out-of-School Time (OST) Professional Network is looking to hire a full-time Director of Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO). The ELO provides strategic leadership in the implementation of technical assistance and professional development specific to New Jersey’s federally funded 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grantees.

About this Position:

The Director of Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) provides strategic leadership in the implementation of technical assistance and professional development specific to New Jersey’s federally funded 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grantees. Serving as the primary liaison to the NJ Department of Education, this role focuses on supporting grantee compliance, capacity building, and continuous improvement within afterschool and out-of-school time (OST) programs. The Director of ELO will also provide support to licensed, subsidized school-age childcare providers, in the delivery of high quality school-age OST programs. This position centers on grant-aligned support services, helping programs deliver high-quality enrichment that meets both federal and state guidelines and youth development best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Partner with the NJDOE, in the co-coordination of Project Director meetings, the annual Soaring Beyond Expectations Afterschool Showcase, the National Institute on Out-of-School Time’s annual Leading for Quality Training, topical professional learning communities and additional professional development opportunities, as necessary.
  2. Provide technical assistance including professional development and quality enhancement planning for the development, expansion and improvement of school-age programs throughout NJ, utilizing proven resources.
  3. Participate in NJSACC’s New Jersey Quality Standards for Afterschool (NJQSA) initiatives which may include development of appropriate content, professional development, technical assistance, and support of integration into the NJ Child Care Information Systems (NJCCIS).
  4. Support school-age providers with knowledge of the NJ State Systems including New Jersey licensing and subsidy requirements, Child Care Resource and Referral agencies, Child Care Development Block Grant funding, and NJ social service programs to implement quality programming.
  5. Contribute to the ongoing development of virtual, in person, and on demand professional development including foundational workshops, NJQSA, general topics and content related to afterschool and OST.
  6. Provide leadership and support for additional agency initiatives, as needed.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or three to five (3 to 5) years of comparable experience in early childhood education, social work, or related field preferred
  2. Highly organized, motivated, self-starter with the ability to work independently, and manage time and projects effectively
  3. Proficiency with facilitating meetings, training workshops, and peer group discussions
  4. Demonstrate and maintain effective communication skills
  5. Technologically savvy; high level of competence in the use of technology including proficiency with at least Microsoft Office, Google suite, Salesforce, spreadsheets, databases, word processing, PowerPoint presentations, Zoom, email and cell phone functions (experience with some Information Technology preferred)
  6. Experience and enthusiasm in working with afterschool and out-of-school time professionals and programs, preferred
  7. Ability to work virtually and professionally from a remote location and/or from NJSACC’s Westfield, NJ office location

Geographic Location

  1. NJSACC is a statewide agency, serving all of New Jersey. However, our office is located in Westfield, NJ. Ideally, the Director of Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) will work mostly remotely, occasionally in-person at our Westfield office location, or on a hybrid schedule (remote and in-person).
  2. Required meetings, program visits, conferences, and other events will take place virtually and in-person, as scheduled.

Salary and Other Details:

Required Hours: 5 day (35 hour) workweek typically scheduled Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-6pm including virtual work one-two weeknights/month until 9pm and occasional weekends.

Hybrid Work Schedule: 50-100% of hours from home office (with option to work from Westfield office).

This position also includes in person meetings, training, site visits, and events.
