As we close out our month-long journey with Farm to Table Kids, we’re digging even deeper into the lifecycle of dahlias. These lessons remind us that the quiet work of nurturing what lies beneath the surface is often just as vital as the act of planting itself.
In Module 2: Lessons 4-5, learners will uncover “buried treasure” as they learn to carefully cut back and dig up dahlias, protecting their tender tubers from frost. They will also discover how to divide and store dahlia clusters for the spring, reflecting on the gifts of nature and the care that helps gardens flourish, season after season. |

Educators everywhere, thank you for the invaluable work you do to help kids connect—with nature and with themselves. |

This week, we’re moving from planning to planting, inviting our young learners to think like garden scientists as they dig deeper into the natural world. Module 2, Lessons 1–3 by Farm to Table Kids are all about dahlias—and how to care for, grow, and harvest these exquisite blooms. Students will learn how to select healthy tubers, ready rich soil, and care for plants organically, all season long. Getting their hands into the dirt, they’ll gain confidence, sharpen their observational skills, and may even build stronger bonds with the wider world around them. |
