Peer Group for OST Leaders: Every 3rd Thursday of the Month

Back for another year, this popular, grant funded, cost free peer group for Out-of-School Time (OST) professionals is accepting applications for new members! As a close knit networking community and safe space, this is a unique opportunity to share support, news, advice, and troubleshoot issues with other leaders doing similar work in the OST field in NJ. This group meets every 3rd Thursday of the month via zoom (October-June). Space is limited, so please apply ASAP.

Supporting Behavior & Inclusion Peer Learning Community (PLC). Monthly meetings start in November

Take the next step in supporting positive behavior & inclusion in your school age OST program. Join our newest Peer Learning Community (PLC)! Facilitated by inclusion specialist Philip Collazo of Kids Included together (KIT) & NJSACC staff, this PLC will take a monthly deep dive via zoom into supporting positive behavior and inclusion in school age OST programs. FEE: $99 for all 6 sessions

Building Inclusive Settings that Support Behavior: January 14, 2025

In this virtual session, our Kids Inclusion Together (KIT) trainer will guide us in exploring how to use the four guiding principles of inclusion and the KIT support pyramid to build a program that strengthens inclusion and behavior support. This grant funded, cost free workshop is appropriate for all levels of school age OST staff.

Planning Support for Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Neurodiversity: February 18, 2025

Autism Spectrum Disorder and neurodiversity can impact the developmental skills of youth in a variety of ways that can affect their participation and relationships in ways that may prove challenging. Join us, and our trainer from Kids Included Together (KIT), for this virtual workshop exploring strategies to support social interactions, communication, and the sensory processing needs of the youth in your care. This grant funded, cost free workshop is appropriate for all levels of school age OST staff.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification February Training

Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification Training

Identity. Understand. Respond.

*Must attend two days of training and complete two (2) hours of pre-work, must have access to a camera and microphone, camera must be on for the duration of the training*

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children & adolescents ages 12-18.

The course will teach you how to apply the MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE):

  • Assess for risk of suicide or harm.
  • Listen non-judgmentally.
  • Give reassurance and information.
  • Encourage appropriate professional help.
  • Encourage self-help and other support strategies

Appropriate for all staff, ages 18 and over; led by Patricia Pugliese, Technical Assistance Specialist with NJSACC and Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor.

Virtual via Zoom: Tuesday, February 25th, 2025, 10am – 1pm AND Thursday, February 27th, 2025, 10am – 1pm

Positive Relationships Start with Meaningful Interactions: March 18, 2025

Positive relationships are the foundation for supporting youth, but making connections with every youth is not always easy, especially with youth who consistently show concerning or unsafe behavior. In this virtual workshop, led by our Kids Included Together (KIT) trainer, we’ll gain tools and explore how self-reflection and acknowledgement can be used to build trust and positive relationships. This grant funded, cost free workshop is appropriate for all levels of school age OST staff.
