Attention Youth: Join the Million Girls Moonshot Flight Crew 2024 - apply by Fri Dec 1
On October 11, 2023 – International Day of the Girl, STEM Next Opportunity Fund’s Million Girls Moonshot launched the application for the third cohort of its Flight Crew – a group of youth advocates promoting the value of STEM learning and equity for young people across the nation.
This is an opportunity to find a representative for afterschool and summer learning in your state. The Flight Crew is a highly visible youth ambassador who can speak about the power of OST STEM learning.
The Moonshot hopes to recruit remarkable youth from YOUR STATE, capable of speaking to:
- First-hand, impactful STEM experiences beyond the classroom (afterschool, summer, before school),
- Any work and/or desire to break down stereotypes, solve challenges in their community and spark their peers’ curiosity in STEM,
- Experiences in building STEM skills by working in teams, problem solving, etc., and
- Any ability to connect their STEM experiences to everyday life.
Flight Crew members selected will embody the Moonshot mission to elevate afterschool STEM learning to build a better future for young people everywhere AND support your region as a youth spokesperson for OST STEM.
If selected, Flight Crew members will join Moonshot’s advocacy efforts and commitment to create equity for girls and non-binary youth in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through elevating youth voices, inspiring peers and fellow future STEM leaders.
The 2024 cohort will act as a champion for OST STEM, while honing their advocacy and leadership skills during eight months of virtual programming –including leadership development opportunities, public speaking experience, resume and interview coaching, access to scholarships and internships and mentor connections– using their experiences in afterschool and summer learning.
