In 1997, the Charles Stewart Mott foundation entered into a unique public/private partnership with the U.S. Department of Education to support the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) initiative. The 21st Century Community Learning Center is a federally funded program designed to utilize after school hours by providing additional academics and learning opportunities that complement the school day; mentoring for young people by caring adults; lifelong learning opportunities for community members; and a safe place to support these activities during out-of-school time.
The New Jersey Department of Education provides further support for out-of-school-time programs in NJ, which include those before school, after school or in the summer. At NJSACC, we are contracted to offer training and technical assistance to all NJDOE 21st CCLC grantees.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact NJSACC for more information here.

The Afterschool Guide to Social and Emotional Learning
The Afterschool Guide to SEL is a compilation of a variety of resources to help afterschool professionals better understand SEL, the competencies and the role SEL plays within afterschool programs. These resources provide information about the importance and benefits of SEL, strategies to integrate SEL practice into afterschool programming and examples of successful programs built around SEL practice. Regardless of proficiency with SEL practice, the resources within this guide may be used to enhance the SEL experiences offered to youth.
