NJ Quality Standards for Afterschool: Self-Assessment Tool Rubric

NJ Quality Standards for Afterschool

NJ Quality Standards for Afterschool Self-Assessment Tool Rubric

This project was funded in part with federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by No Child Left Behind, Title IV, Part B, 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grant funds through a grant agreement with the New Jersey Department of Education.

The rubric provides examples and descriptions of what each self-assessment tool score (in each area of the standards) would look like in a program for each category, standard and element.

Click on each of the following items to learn more about each rubric:

  • Administration Rubric
  • Health Behavior and Nutrition Rubric
  • Human Relations Rubric
  • Indoor and Outdoor Environment Rubric
  • Programming and Activities Rubric
  • Safety and Environmental Health Rubric
  • Special Needs and Whole Child Rubric

Performance Levels

Rate your afterschool program in each of the indicators using the following system:

  • Performance Level 1: Needs Improvement/Standard Not Met
  • Performance Level 2: Some Progress Made/Approaching Standard
  • Performance Level 3: Satisfactory/Meets Standard
  • Performance Level 4: Excellent/Exceeds Standard

A quality afterschool program should strive to meet Performance Level 3 on all quality indicators.
