Programming for Tweens

Developing activities for Tweens – children ages 8 through 14 – is both rewarding and challenging. Important aspects of doing this successfully include hiring and training appropriate staff, planning multiple week activities with youth making presentations or final products, communicating with parents and keeping them excited about attending.
This workshop will be geared to both new and existing programs.

This workshop is to help staff in school-age child care settings teach children effective, nonviolent ways to resolve conflict.

This workshop is developed to meet the unique needs of school-age child care providers and provide assistance in the following areas:

  1. Implementing instruction in key conflict resolution concepts
  2. Further developing children skills using experiential education strategies
  3. Developing approaches for resolving conflict in child care settings

The Program Focuses on “The Peaceable Program” model and uses an Adventure based approach to teaching Conflict Resolution.

Environmental Education Conference Coming Up!

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Want new ideas for after-school activities? Ever consider environmental
education as a way to meet your after-school goals while keeping children
interested in learning?  If so, register now for the Alliance for New*
Jersey Environmental Education’s 25th Annual Conference!

The conference takes place on Thursday, January 28th through Saturday,
January 30th, at the Wyndham Princeton Forrestal Hotel and Conference Center
in Plainsboro. Fees include conference activities, excellent meals and a
one-year ANJEE membership. Professional Development Credits are available.

What will you miss if you don’t attend?
* Two full days of concurrent workshops (many with hands-on learning) on
Friday and Saturday
* A full day of intense and engaging “pre-conference” workshops on Thursday

* One plenary session on Friday and one on Saturday, specifically:
– Brian Day, Executive Director of the North American Association for
Environmental Education (Friday)
– Dr. Cheryl Charles, President of the Children and Nature Network
(Saturday)
* Local field trips
* ANJEE awards reception and social on Friday evening

Saturday’s program offers an array of workshops for early childhood and
