Publicly funded after-school for all?
That provocative question was just one of the issues raised at a “Public Forum on After-School Programs in New Jersey” convened by Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey on April 24 in Union, NJ. Moderated by Emmy Award winning Thirteen/WNET (PBS) anchor and author Steve Adubato, the forum included a panel of NJ leaders involved with after-school programs, including Ralph Izzo, chairman and CEO of PSEG and chair of NJ After 3; Connie Ludwin, state director of Boys & Girls Clubs in NJ; Diane Genco, executive director of the New Jersey School Age Care Coalition (NJSACC) ; Greg Tatum, assistant superintendent of the Union Township Board of Education; and Roberta Knowlton, Director of the Office of Schooling Services, NJ Department of Education. The forum was sponsored by PSE&G, Comcast and Deutsch Communications Group.
