Getting ready for summer!
A training sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club of Garfield in partnership with NJSACC, the network for New Jersey’s afterschool communities.

Participants will attend two of the sessions described below. The first session will run from 9am-10:30am and the second session will run from 10:35am-12:05pm.
Session 1
Workshop A
Promoting Positive Behavior through Programming.
Quality Afterschool programs offer activities that are fun, enriching and educational. In addition, Afterschool programs have a great “out of school” challenge when it comes to children’s behavior. This workshop will provide strategies for staff to develop activities and programming that promote positive behavior while ensuring the activities are enriching, educational and age appropriate.

Building the Team through Effective Communication
Effective communication skills can lead to improved relationships and better team work. In this highly interactive workshop participants will learn proven techniques that teach how to express yourself clearly and confidently, recognize communication barriers and communicate effectively through active listening skills.

Games, Games, Games
Keep the ball rolling with new ideas for non-competitive games to play with school-age children. A variety of cooperative games that can be utilized with large and small multi-age groups will be taught in this fun and interactive workshop. Be prepared to participate! This workshop is for new staff.
