Part-time 4-H Science, Engineering & Technology Instructor
The Passaic County 4-H Youth Development Program is looking for a science, engineering and technology instructor who can support current and future after-school programming of the organization.
Organization Description
The New Jersey 4-H Youth Development Program is a component of Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cook College, Rutgers University. In each New Jersey County, through the local Rutgers Cooperative Extension office, 4-H offers informal, educational programs to youth in grades K-13 (one year out of high school).
The Rutgers Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development program uses a learn-by-doing approach to enable youth to develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to become competent, caring, and contributing citizens of the world. This mission is accomplished by using the knowledge and resources of the land-grant university system, along with the involvement of caring adults.
One key component of the 4-H program is its volunteer base; adult and teen volunteers are responsible for teaching, mentoring and guiding youth involved in the program. Another key element involves community partnerships, which provide an avenue to collaboratively design and conduct effective local programs with other community organizations and agencies.
The 4-H Science, Engineering, and Technology (SET) Initiative is the 4-H program’s contribution to improving science technology, engineering and math (STEM) education in New Jersey. 4-H is responding to our nation’s concern for improving human capacity and workforce abilities in STEM areas by combining non-formal education with hands-on inquiry-based learning in a youth development context.
