Now accepting applications for Year 3 of Service Learning Professional Development project.

 Afterschool CARES

NJSACC’s Afterschool CARES is a Service Learning Training project for afterschool programs.
The goal of the project is to train and support afterschool program staff to provide children with resources to engage in Service Learning in their communities.
During the Project year (October 2011-June 2012) participants will receive training on Service Learning and get regular support with resources, program visits, phone and email assistance.

The Afterschool CARES project will track and tally the service that the children across the state participate in as well as develop a data base of Service Learning activities for all Afterschool programs to utilize in the future.

Participation Requirements:

  • Interested programs must apply and meet all participation requirements
  • Mandatory attendance at project orientation, October 28, 2012 from

10 AM to 12 PM in Westfield, NJ

  • Regular inclusion of Afterschool CARES in programming for children
  • Schedule 5-7 hours of staff meeting time for Professional Development and Support
  • Completion of 2 Service Learning projects by June 30, 2012

In return, your program will receive:

  • The benefit of community awareness of the vital work your center does in providing care (free publicity),
  • 2 hours of free Professional Development for each afterschool staff member attending the October orientation meeting,
  • 6 hours of free Professional Development over the course of the project year for each afterschool SACC staff member participating in Afterschool CARES,
  • A certificate of participation in Afterschool CARES from NJSACC for your program,
  • Continuous and regular support to ensure completion of the project.
