Great News for NJ !

NJSACC is proud to become a member of the National Girls Collaborative Project

NJSACC has been chosen to serve as the Convening Organization for the New Jersey affiliate of the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP).
New Jersey is now one of 21 collaborative projects, serving 33 states that have been established as a part of the NGCP, facilitating collaboration between more than 8,800 organizations and indirectly serving more than 5 million girls.

The vision of the NGCP is to bring together organizations throughout the United States that are committed to informing and encouraging girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Too often programs that serve girls in STEM are limited in service and impact due to size, location, funding, expertise and equipment. In other cases, projects compete with each other, duplicating services and seeking the same resources. The National Girls Collaborative Project provides the opportunity for programs to increase their organizational capacity to maintain interest and participation of girls in STEM through collaboration. The project will also add knowledge to the out-of-school time field about effective engagement and outreach strategies for underrepresented girls in STEM.

NJSACC’s “The Garden State Girls STEM Collaborative Project“  will host a variety of free or low-cost professional development opportunities for girl-serving organizations, educators, and business professionals in the area. The NGCP model is structured to bring organizations together to compare needs and resources, share information, and to plan strategically to expand STEM-related opportunities for girls. The NGCP’s collaborative model transforms the way practitioners and educators work to advance girls participation in STEM .

The Garden State Girls STEM Collaborative Project will host an information meeting on August 18th, following NJSACC’s Summer STEM Institute. The information session will be held from 3-5pm at the First Baptist Church in Westfield, NJ.  All program managers, guidance counselors, business partners, technical professionals, K-12 teachers, and representatives from professional organizations and higher education are invited to join us to learn about the National Girls Collaborative Project and meet new colleagues to identify collaboration opportunities .
