Action Alert!

Let Congress Know First Thing Monday Morning!

Support Federal Funding for Afterschool & Summer Programs

Increase Funding for 21st CCLCs to Support Afterschool & Summer Programs

Now is the time to take action in support of afterschool and summer learning programs.
Your Senators and Representative needs to hear about the value and importance of afterschool programs funded through the 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) program!
Administration and legislative proposals for fiscal year 2011 could result in fewer funds for afterschool programs by diverting funds to other programs, making it unclear how much funding would actually go to support school and community based before-school, afterschool and summer programs that enhance learning for children, keep kids safe and help working families.
Encourage your Members of Congress to visit afterschool programs, talk to them about afterschool at October Lights On Afterschool events, and send an email today in support of afterschool programs.

Head Start needs your voice!
Support Head Start and Early Head Start!

Congress and the Obama Administration affirmed Head Start’s effectiveness two years ago by expanding the programs, adding 24,000 new jobs, and serving 64,000 additional children.

Use your voice to strongly ask Congress to keep funding in next year’s budget for these 64,000 children.

Your Voice can encourage your legislators to make sure that these 24,000 teachers, aides, bus drivers, and family service workers can keep their jobs in Head Start and Early Head Start programs and continue to make a difference in lives and communities all across the country.

Your Voice can join thousands of other voices affirming the crucial importance to the future of our nation of well-funded, effective Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
