EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR — JOB DESCRIPTION

Young Audiences Arts for Learning of Eastern Pennsylvania

Young Audiences of Eastern Pennsylvania (YAEP) offers comprehensive standards-based programs in the arts, including in-school and after-school artist residencies, workshops, master classes, educational assemblies, family arts nights and teacher professional development seminars  All of our work is infused with the desire to inspire, nurture and sustain the creativity, productivity and cultural understanding of children. YAEP is part of a national Young Audiences network of 30 affiliates that brings arts programs to 9 million young people annually.

YAEP is a collaborative fiscal partner with Young Audiences New Jersey. Together they share a staff of 11 to support operations of both affiliates. YAEP is tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director develops organizational strategies to achieve YAEP’s long-term vision, implements policies approved by the Board of Directors, manages affiliate programs and operations, and represents YAEP in the community.

The ideal candidate will have experience in arts education, a clear understanding and belief in the value of arts in the education and development of young people, a proven track record of working with a Board of Trustees and management of similar organizational operations and finances, a familiarity and understanding of the region’s diverse multi-cultural arts community, experience working with school-age populations in both the public and private sector and demonstrated fundraising skills, including grant-writing, research and cultivation of corporate, foundation, governmental and individual funders. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills and the ability to nurture a collegial working environment among trustees, staff and artists. BA degree required. Minimum 3 years senior staff experience with non-profit or in the private sector preferred.

Currently a 20-hour-per-week position, it is anticipated that the position will become full-time within one to two years. Salary is commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and experiences.

Hands on Science Workshop

School Age Child care programs and afterschool programs  are a great opportunity to reinforce skills and information learned during the school day in a fun way.
Participants will use common household items to explore scientific operations that are gooey, slimy and exciting for kids to experiment with, all while learning basic scientific principals that make connections to the school day.

Afterschool Toolkit Training for Educators and Program Providers!

Building Fun, Innovative, and Academically-Enriching Activities Using the  Web- based Afterschool Training Toolkit

Learn how to support afterschool enrichment by using United States Department of Education approved research-based practices.

Literacy, Math, Science and Arts sample lessons, video examples, and resources to provide engaging, innovative activities to students in your afterschool programs.

Trainers will demonstrate different ways to use the afterschool toolkit to:

  • promote staff development
  • support collegial learning in the following areas: literacy, math, science, arts, technology, and homework.

Presented in partnership with NJSACC:  The Network for NJ’s Afterschool Communities and the NJ Department of Education.
