Next Step Institute#4:

Connecting Youth to “Hot” Programming:  Getting them in the door and keeping them there!
In this workshop designed for afterschool programs working with Middle School students (and High School-aged youth as well), participants will draw from the different programming designs represented by the attendees of the workshop to discuss related strengths and challenges of recruiting and retaining adolescents in afterschool programs.

Participants will also explore staff, youth and community perceptions and experiences that influence recruitment and retention and will gain tools and develop concrete strategies to support and strength these elements.

Rebecca Fabiano has an extensive background in education, leadership and program administration, specifically with regard to adolescent development and youth programming.  For seven years she utilized these skills as Director of Opening Doors and Building Bridges Youth Development & Afterschool program at the Martin Luther King Educational Campus in New York City. An accomplished educator and trainer, Rebecca excels in her ability to communicate information in a direct, fun and effective manner. She currently provides training and curriculum development on wide range of topics related to youth development and after school programs locally, nationally and internationally.
