Immigrant Families

New American Children Initiative

More than 1/2 of the children aged 3-6 in New York City live in immigrant families. The Foundation for Child Development recognizes that the children of immigrants experience some of the greatest hardships growing up in America, including poverty and inadequate access to health care, crowded housing, and language barriers. The goal of the Foundation for Child Development’s New American Children Initiative is to create the knowledge needed to inform sound policies affecting the well-being of young newcomer children and their families in the United States.  The FCD website contains research, reports, funding information and fact sheets.
